Because oak is natural wood, it can withstand a lot of wear and tear, but oak doors work best when they are adequately shielded.

1. Take off the door’s hardware.
Place the door on a spotless, flat surface, then fix the handles, locks, and hinges. In order to properly prepare the door for cleaning, this is one of the most crucial stages.

2. Clean the door
A clean, grease- and grime-free door surface is a must. The entire door should be thoroughly sanded down using a sheet of 240 or 320-grit sandpaper.

All sections of the door need to be sanded completely. Giving the door a “key” is what is referred to as doing, and it creates an appropriate surface for the finish to attach to. Your chosen finish ought to adhere to something, and that is crucial.

3. Dust must be removed
By sweeping up as much dust as you can, keep your workspace tidy. After sanding, you can use a dust brush to get rid of all the dust. To remove any finer dust particles, you may also use a regular hair drier. You can even vacuum the surface to make sure it is clean and ready to use.

4. Door Treatment
Apply a uniform coat to the entire face and edges of the door with a flat brush or a microfibre roller. Making sure to paint against the grain and wiping away any drips that could start to accumulate in the door’s grooves. Before flipping the door over and repeating steps 1 through 4, let this side dry in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

5. Lightly sand
Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and let the door dry. Now that the entire door has been completely oiled, you should lightly sand the entire door before fully withdrawing as you did the previous time.
